Walking and cycling

Andalusia has many places with untouched natural areas, which offers a range of opportunities for active sporting tourists.

Walking

Costa Del Sol

For many probably not exactly a typical hiking destination. Most of the tourists only come here for tanning and shopping along the many shopping streets of Marbella and Torremolinos. However, it is recommended for all hikers to explore the Costa del Sol. These beautiful and especially green region just behind the coast from Marbella, only 10 kilometers inland, lies the Sierra de las Nieves national park where you can make beautiful walks in the untouched nature.

This is an ideal destination for those who want to combine a holiday with beautiful trips in the hinterland. In the summer months when the temperature climbs above 30°C , we don’t recommend to make difficult hikes into the mountains.

The Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park stretches from the hills of Marbella to Tolox to Malaga and in the north to Ronda. In the middle of the 200 km2 area is the highest peak, the Torecilla of + – 2000 meters high. Because the mountains rise directly from the Costa del Sol up it looks very impressive.

Axarquia

Axarquia is a beautiful  region in the province of Málaga. Here you can find mostly typical white villages and breathtaking mountain landscapes that define the atmosphere. Competa and Frigliana are two of these idyllic white villages. Ideal for walking. They connect the beautiful mountain areas of Tejeda, Almijara and Almara and with a huge natural park of over 42,000 hectares.

Cycling
